After being born in London, Ben grew up in Mount Vernon, New York. He played high school basketball for the Knights and led them to the 2000 New York State Public and Federation Championships as a top 40 national recruit. He committed to UConn and in his last season with the Huskies, he averaged a team-leading 20.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. He set a Big East Tournament record with 81 total points and also led the NCAA tournament field with 127 total points which played a big role in winning the 2004 NCAA Championship. He declared himself eligible for the draft and Gordon was picked 3rd overall in 2004 by the Bulls. As a rookie, Gordon averaged 15.1 points and helped lead the Bulls to their first playoff appearance since 1998. He was the first rookie in NBA history to be awarded NBA Sixth Man of the Year. After 5 years with the Bulls, he played 3 years with the Pistons and 2 years with the Bobcats. He is currently a member of the Orlando Magic.
